The Academy Is…

Posted in Events, Photos, Random, Uncategorized by Derek on October 29, 2008

On Sunday my girlfriend and I saw The Academy Is and We The Kings play at The Ogden Theatre. The opening bands were Hey Monday and Carolina Liar. It was a fun time besides having to stand in line for over an hour with a bunch of whiny teenage girls….. Below are a few photos I took with my Sony point & shoot camera. Enjoy!

This week I had the chance use a Mamiya 645 Medium Format Camera. It’s not too shabby of a camera. The images below were taken with the Mamiya using Kodak TMAX 100 & 400 film.

On Monday I got to see one of my favorite bands perform at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. I brought along my little Sony Cybershot point and shoot camera to see if I could get a few photos of the concert. To my surprise the camera didn’t do too shabby for there being hardly any light to work with.

Good Ol’ Film

Recently I have been getting back into shooting 35mm film.  After shooting digitally for the past 3 years it is interesting not being able to look at the back of the camera at that tiny little screen and see the result of what you just photographed.  Having to go into the darkroom and process your own film before you can even see the results, it’s fun.  It makes you concentrate on getting the photograph to look the way you want it to on the first try instead of taking several photos digitally and hoping you get one that works.

Below are a few photos I have taken recently with my film camera. Enjoy!
